So, I just realised that I almost let 2016 go by without posting here at all. Not that it would really matter, 2016 has been a crap year so far.... RIP Alan Rickman.

Anyway, I think I am the same as I was back in October last year when I made the last post. XD

So let me say some things I am liking and things I am ranting about ATM.

1. I am playing D&D and loving it still.

RP: D&D Style

I Am A: Neutral Good Half-Elf /Sorcerer (3rd/2nd Level)

Ability Scores:

Neutral Good A neutral good character does the best that a good person can do. He is devoted to helping others. He works with kings and magistrates but does not feel beholden to them. Neutral good is the best alignment you can be because it means doing what is good without bias for or against order. However, neutral good can be a dangerous alignment when it advances mediocrity by limiting the actions of the truly capable.

Half-Elves have the curiosity and ambition for their human parent and the refined senses and love of nature of their elven parent, although they are outsiders among both cultures. To humans, half-elves are paler, fairer and smoother-skinned than their human parents, but their actual skin tones and other details vary just as human features do. Half-elves tend to have green, elven eyes. They live to about 180.

Primary Class:
Monks are versatile warriors skilled at fighting without weapons or armor. Good-aligned monks serve as protectors of the people, while evil monks make ideal spies and assassins. Though they don't cast spells, monks channel a subtle energy, called ki. This energy allows them to perform amazing feats, such as healing themselves, catching arrows in flight, and dodging blows with lightning speed. Their mundane and ki-based abilities grow with experience, granting them more power over themselves and their environment. Monks suffer unique penalties to their abilities if they wear armor, as doing so violates their rigid oath. A monk wearing armor loses their Wisdom and level based armor class bonuses, their movement speed, and their additional unarmed attacks per round.

Secondary Class:
Sorcerers are arcane spellcasters who manipulate magic energy with imagination and talent rather than studious discipline. They have no books, no mentors, no theories just raw power that they direct at will. Sorcerers know fewer spells than wizards do and acquire them more slowly, but they can cast individual spells more often and have no need to prepare their incantations ahead of time. Also unlike wizards, sorcerers cannot specialize in a school of magic. Since sorcerers gain their powers without undergoing the years of rigorous study that wizards go through, they have more time to learn fighting skills and are proficient with simple weapons. Charisma is very important for sorcerers; the higher their value in this ability, the higher the spell level they can cast.

Reviving old fandoms

So I have spent almost the last 4 years emerged in the Sherlock fandom. All my fanvids, fanfics etc. we're Sherlock related. Then suddenly last month I rediscovered HP and PSoH and FFVII and it's like I had never left. I guess once you were in a fandom you never really leave. It was a separation. Lol

So now I am voraciously devouring the Snape/Potter fics I have not read since 2006 :) have some new faves and I suddenly have a craving to re-read the Harry Potter series and watch over the movies. Lol

Have also been looking for the new series of PetShop of Horrors Passage Hen featuring Sofu D. I will literally kill to read it in English! Well maybe not actually kill... Maim though. Hmmm.

Anyway this was just a side comment on fandoms and my love of all the old ones. :)

Sherlock Series 3 E03 : His Last Vow

My hubby has commented that this episode was Sherlock series "Jumping the Shark".... I agree it was a bit over-the-top but I don't think it quite got to that point.

First let me say that when I heard that Charles Augustus Milverton was going to be featured in Series 3 I was very excited because I felt he was the best villain that Holmes had faced in the original ACD adventures.

So they changed Milverton to Magnussen and made him as creepy and slimy as possible. Did they go too over-the-top in trying to make him as despicable as possible? Maybe. After all having Magnussen pee into Sherlock's fireplace and wash his fingers in Sherlock's water glass and lick Lady Smallwood's cheek was cringe-worthy but after I heard Moffat in the Commentary saying that Magnussen was supposed to be a petty bully the 'eccentricities' did not seem that extreme.

What I really had a problem with though in this episode was the Mary is AGRA the super spy-in-hiding being blackmailed by Magnussen. Then she shot Sherlock and I had as much trouble forgiving her then as John did. In the end though, she seems to fit into the dysfunctional partnership of Holmes and Watson and I guess I will have to see how it works out in Series 4.

Of course, since I have read the ACD stories I now that Mary dies and there has never been offspring for Watson... Moffat and Gatiss are too true to the canon to do something as drastic as let Mrs. Watson and her child live. guess will see in time to come. ^^

Anyway, this should be a proper review... let me list what I loved about Sherlock S03 E03:

1. Shezza in the crack house, though he was way too old to be liming with that crowd, Shezza was a great persona. XD
2. Billy Wiggins makes an appearance as the deductive
3. Christmas with the Holmes' great scene!! Mycroft and Sherlock's banter was the best.. Starting with being caught smoking outside by Mummy and Mycroft declaring that Sherlock is a dragonslayer and his loss would hurt him....(bring out the tissues)
4. Sherlock in his Mind Palace after being shot and getting advice from Molly and Anderson and Mycroft on how to survive... extremely creative. XD
5. The big reveal of the truth and confrontation between Sherlock and Mary with John sitting at the end of the 'building' with his mussed up hair. I love this because it shows that Sherlock was committed to keeping John in the loop after he realised how much his 2 year absence had affected John and he had promised not to cause John such heartache or deception ever again. *sniff*
6. Sherlock shoots Magnussen after realising that there were no vaults. I did not expect that until they went outside. Sherlock was willing to become an outlaw to protect John and his new life. A true friend indeed.
7. For pure shock value and fanservice - Sherlock/Janine romance. This bit of Sherlock acting on his view of the fallibility of Human Nature was excellent Sherlock as he had been established in 'The Blind Banker'...'The Great Game' ... etc.

The ending "Did you Miss me?" courtesy of Jim Moriarty was very interesting. I have no doubt that Moriarty s indeed dead but the question remains who is behind the broadcast and what are their motives. Given that it helped cut Sherlock's exile and eventual execution short, I would suspect either Mycroft or Irene Adler to be behind it. XD Both would be rather intriguing if true.

Sherlock Series 3 E02 : The Sign of Three

I don't think I need to put in the spoiler tags's been over a year. If you haven't seen The Sign of Three yet then, you probably won't ever get around to it. XD

When I first viewed this episode, I was a bit bewildered. I mean it was interesting, entertaining but it did not seem to be too Sherlock. I was not sure what to think at all. Now 20+ or so viewings later, I know this is my fave episode of the 3rd series. The highlights!

1. Sherlock is John's Best Man!
2. Sherlock gives a Speech!!!
3. Archie, the mini-Sherlock-in-training is adorable.
4. The rizla game...John gets to be Madonna and Sherlock is himself. LOL This drunk Stag scene was hilarious.... the best I have ever seen.
5. Greg! (so hunky and dreamy) :)
6. I loved the Mind Palace courtroom with Judge Mycroft Holmes presiding. This actually shows just how much influence Mycroft has over his lil brother's life.

OMG I just realised that this entry is so much like the fake blog entry that Sherlock did on John's site. XD

Anyway, until I have time to actually sit and write a proper review, this will have to do. I love, love , love The Sign of Three. A real treat for the true Sherlock fan.

Sherlock Series 3 E01 **SPOILERS**

The Empty Hearse - Review

This was the episode we had all been waiting for. The return of Sherlock and the on screen return of Sherlock Holmes back from the grave.

The episode opens with a rather elaborate explanation of the Fall by putting Sherlock into the role of master spy Bond as he bungy jumps from Barts' and then crash into the room that Molly is waiting for him in, he lands on his feet and kisses Molly hello and goodbye just before sauntering into the sunset. Meanwhile John had been knocked to the ground and was hyptonised by illusionist Derren Brown into thinking that no time had passed before he got to Sherlock's blood-splattered side in front of the pathology dept. at Barts'.

BULLOCKS!! Exclaims Greg, as we realise that this is just another of Anderson's ridiculous theories as to how Sherlock survives the Fall and once again Greg admonishes Anderson that Sherlock is dead and nothing can change that. At the same time News reporters proclaim Sherlock's innocence 2 years before and Moriarty's existence as well.

This reunion episode gives us everything that we needed from series 3.

- We got an explanation as to how Sherlock survived the Fall, (like Anderson though we might be a little disappointed about the actual reveal).

- We found out that Anderson lost his job while Greg kept his... John was able to get on with his life he has a good steady relationship and a lucrative practice as a Doctor. Punishments for bad deeds is cool. Thanks for this bit.

- We know that Sherlock spent the last 2 years hunting down Moriarty's network and that the end of that group took place in Serbia where Sherlock infiltrated the group and used his skills at deduction to stop his torturer from damaging him with an iron pipe. Sherlock was deep undercover and looked like a rather fit bum what with his long tangled hair.

- It was all Mycroft's plan it seems. I am glad that Gatiss stuck to the original storyline and made Mycroft integral to Sherlock surviving in his self-made exile. I also love that Mycroft went undercover to retrieve Sherlock from potential trouble in Serbia... go Holmes boys!

- Mycroft and Sherlock are really really closer than anyone would expect given their sibling rivalry and the way they bicker. The friendly bickering between Sherlock and Mycroft in TEH was definitely laden with affection and to quote Mrs. Hudson "He's secretly pleased to see you again.... Both of you!"
They were playing Operation! The scene was set up to look like they were playing speed chess esp. given the serious conversation they were having about terrorism but them Mycroft buzzed on the broken heart and Sherlock won the game. I loved Mycroft's cry of "Bugger!" XD
Oh, and I cannot forget the deduction game! I had missed this bit in series 1 when TGG established the sibling rivalry in the form of taunts and bickering instead of a deduction show down. I am glad the chulla hat deduction was shown here. Mycroft won this round deducing that the client was not isolated, while Sherlock wont he war by calling Mycroft on his lone wolf existence.

- John had grown a moustache... no one liked it and it took Sherlock coming back from the dead to convince him to shave it off. Here I quote Mary - "6 months of bristly kisses for me and then his nibs comes along and there it goes."

- Of course JOhn could not win the argument with "I don't shave for Sherlock Holmes!" Yes you do John, yes you do!

- Mary is very likeable and has no intentions of breaking up the best bromance in history. She tells John - "I like him". twice in the same scene. She is as perfect a mate as John could ever pick....Sherlock deduces she is a Liar... is this foreshadowing a sinister past for Mary? We will see... The dynamics between John and Mary is perfect for a couple in love and the dynamics between Sherlock and Mary is that of amicable allies rather than anything else. Perfect.

- The actual reunion scene was in parts hilarious, heartbreaking and very intense. Hilarious as Sherlock, shows his lack of social skills by trying to play a trick on John instead of just breaking it gently that he was still alive. No, Sherlock decides to pretend to be a French waiter at John's table to 'surprise' him. I don't think we need to be Sherlock Holmes to deduce how that went down. So Sherlock shocked John, John reacted badly and broken and then Sherlock unable to discuss his feelings at reunion with John makes a joke about John's moustache. John decks him, full body slam onto the floor. They get thrown out of the fancy restaurant.

Then they sit at a diner and Sherlock tries to explain how he survived and John interrupts by saying that he does not care how but rather WHY!? Sherlock reveals that Mycroft and Molly and his homeless network were in on the plan. This angers John so he punches Sherlock... they get thrown out of the diner.

Then they end up in a kebab joint. Sherlock tells John that he was not in on the plan because he cannot keep a secret and is not a good liar. Furthermore he makes deductions about John and Mary and then asks John for his help to take down terrorists. John is not pleased..... he butts Sherlock on his nose.... but he did not break it, John is a good doctor. XD

I loved this scene so much, far better than the original where Watson faints.^^ It shows the emotional reunion and John's sense of betrayal and love for Sherlock and under the anger we see that John is happy that Sherlock is back.. in the next scene John shaves off his moustache after all. LOL

Sherlock does not know how to handle seeing John again and so messes it all up; he doesn't know how to tell John that he missed him and he fought hard to keep him alive and that he was happy to see JOhn again, so he makes a joke and gets a beating.

- The use of the underground in this ep. was visually stunning as it lends a gravitas to Sherlock and character to London. In other words we really get a revitalised London seen anew through Sherlock's eyes after having been away so long.

- Molly has a boyfriend that looks a bit like Sherlock.. he's ordinary and sweet. The question is though does she want a cute, sweet version of Sherlock or does she want the real thing? XD Only time will tell.

- The scenes with Sherlock and Molly solving crimes together was great. They show that Sherlock can be nice when he wants to and he had a lot to be thankful to Molly for so he showed her a good time as his partner for the day. Lovely heartwarming scene.

- Sherlock has ordinary parents! This was such a cool touch.. of course later in the series we learn that Mummy was a genius but otherwise they were just in London visiting their baby boy who was finally absolved of all wrongdoings and fraud in the public eye 2 years after his 'death'. John remarks that they are very ordinary, implying that is unlike both Sherlock and Mycroft. I love the reference that John thinks Sherlock is brilliant. XD

- The big-bad enemy is introduced as he had John kidnapped and placed within a Guy Fawkes bonfire and set ablaze! Sherlock and Mary arrive in the nick of time to rescue him! Exciting!

- The terrorist cell is revealed in the person of Lord Moran the Giant Rat of Sumatra Road Underground Station. Lots of ACD references there ^^ John and Sherlock end up on the train carriage rigged to blow up Parliament. Thankfully Sherlock was able to disarm and save them all. The imminent danger, have them professing their love for each other and now the team of Sherlock Holmes and John Watson is back! Yeah!!

I loved this reunion ep. as I said before I have seen it about 5 times so far on iPlayer and I think that alone illustrates how much I enjoyed watching TEH. Re-watchability is my benchmark for shows I really love. XD So join in on Sunday on PBS and we can all watch this great show together ^^

Sherlock Series 3 **SPOILERS**

At long last. Sherlock series 3 is over. PBS is going to show The Empty Hearse on Sunday January 19th and I will watch it again (for the 5th time^^) after that I will try not to re-watch until I get the Blu-Ray release XD

So what can I say about Sherlock Series 3? It took wayyyyyyy to long to be aired but it was actually pretty speedy after actual filming.^^ I don't mind waiting a year for a new series so I hope the rumours of a Jan 2015 release for Series 4 is fact.

Many Happy Returns - Review

The Christmas episode special was about 7 mins long. Half of the web-isode focused on Anderson and Lestrade as Anderson tries to convince Greg that Sherlock has faked his death.... that Sherlock has been working remarkable cases in Tibet, India, Germany and that he is on his way back to London. It seems that after in investigations into Sherlock's consultancy, Lestrade was absolved of any misconduct, Sherlock's name and reputation was cleared and Anderson lost his job because a sense of guilt and conscience had himm convinced that Sherlock Holmes as indeed still alive after having staged his suicide.
Bullocks! According to Greg. Of course everyone knows that Sherlock died.
Greg Lestrade excused himself and went to visit John at his new flat away from Baker Street. Greg hands John a box containing paraphernalia from Sherlock's various cases and including an uncut version of a Birthday greeting that Sherlock had sent John a couple years before. John steels himself with some Scotch and watches Sherlock bluff himself through an excuse not to be at John's b-day party. As Sherlock asks Greg , who is behind the scenes, what to say.... John interrupts and say "Don't be dead." On screen Sherlock responds "Okay. Happy Birthday John and Many Happy Returns". Then after John pauses the film, the video plays out with a smile and a wink. Greg get a newspaper that reads "The Game is back On".

My impressions

I loved this mini ep. it was nice to see that the Sherlock believer was Anderson and that he had got just punishments for doubting Sherlock in The Reichenbach Fall. It was also good to see Lestrade getting a starring role. I was also happy to see that Greg did not lose his job over the Sherlock debacle. XD John looked relaxed and while his mourning was not completely over we can see that he had indeed moved on after Sherlock and he was in a good place.
The theme of this mini ep was that Sherlock is coming back. It is very appropriate and I was very glad that he was on his way back and the Christmas release broke up the seemingly long neverending wait for the return of Sherlock.
Make sure you watch this ep on YouTube before you see The Empty Hearse. ^^

Around the Christmas Tree

Hopefully, I can chat again soon :)

Wow, this post is longggggggg overdue. XD

I haven't posted in so long. though to be fair I haven't really been on LJ in almost the 5 months I haven't posted ^^

I have been blown away by "The Day of the Doctor"; I actually quite enjoyed "The Night of the Doctor" as well. XD

Sherlock premiere has me avoiding any hint of a spoiler, knowing all that people will post as they try to spoil the fun for the rest of us. I can't wait for January. I plan to Watch "The Empty Hearse" on Jan 2 (Jan 1, if I can), Jan 22nd I think on PBS and BBC America as well. So now know I have to go and check the airdates. XD I can't wait!

I got me a copy of "S" by JJ Abrams and I look forward to reading that maybe Christmas day itself^^.... if I have time. Right now though I have about 2 more days I can complete my Christmas shopping and I am feeling the pressure. I hope for the best though. :)
